Bargain Booksy Promo: The False Favorite

The BookBub Featured Deal for The False Favorite went so well that I decided to explore similar promotion sites. First up, Bargain Booksy.

Bargain Booksy works like BookBub in that they have a mailing list of subscribers to whom they send a daily email with featured titles. They accepted The False Favorite in their Mystery category. I discounted my novel to $.99, and the promo email went out on Friday, April 18th.

Bargain Booksy Cost and Total Subscribers

The cost of the Bargain Booksy promo was significantly cheaper than BookBub at $70. According to their website, they have 555,000 mystery subscribers.

Bargain Booksy Sales

Well, I learned why the cost of the Bargain Booksy promo is so much less. During the week that my novel was featured, I had a negligible increase in ebook sales, with a weekly total of 35 sales. This is not many more sales than I would have during a normal week.

Amazon: 31
Barnes & Noble: 3
Kobo: 1
Apple: 0
Google: 0
Total: 35

Bottom line: Bargain Booksy was not a good value if your goal is purely sales. I saw a minimal sales increase from the promotion, if any. Maybe a couple more books sold than normal, but nothing even close to BookBub in terms of cost/sales ratio.

On a positive note, thousands of people (supposedly) saw my book title and name in their email inbox, so maybe some brand awareness came from it. And I probably picked up a few new Amazon and Goodreads ratings from the promo. That alone might be worth the $70, but I definitely would not rely on Bargain Booksy as a book sales engine.
