Fussy Librarian Promo: The False Favorite

During the month prior to The Kentucky Derby, I heavily discounted The False Favorite and ran several promotions for the book. The BookBub Featured Deal was the best return on investment. Bargain Booksy was the worst value. This post gives a quick rundown of the second best service I tried, Fussy Librarian.

Fussy Librarian works like BookBub and Bargain Booksy in that they have a mailing list of subscribers to whom they send a daily email with featured titles. They accepted The False Favorite in their Mystery category. I discounted the novel to $.99, and the promo email went out on Saturday, April 26th.

Fussy Librarian Promo Cost for Mystery

The Fussy Librarian promo for the Mystery category was the least expensive service I tried at $22. You can also add additional categories for a discounted price. I tacked on the Thriller category for $11. Total cost for the promo was $33.

Fussy Librarian Sales

I sold about the same number of copies during the Fussy Librarian promo as I did during the Bargain Booksy promo, but Fussy Librarian was less than half the cost.

Amazon: 27
Barnes & Noble: 1
Kobo: 2
Apple: 1
Google: 0
Ingramspark Paperback: 1
Total: 32

Bottom line: Fussy Librarian was a decent value relative to the cost. I sold a book for every dollar I spent on the promo, which isn’t bad. Not enough to earn back more than I paid, but it was close. I will use the service again for my other books.
